This is why I don't blog.

I'm terrible at keeping up with this! I have a Facebook that I am practically glued to, and I can upload pictures and write notes and comment on my friend's walls, but I can't do something as simple as post to an online scrapbook-diary-thing every once in a while? That's crazy talk.

So, general recap of events that have occured since I last blogged.

1) Went to Turkey. Had lots of experiences, not all of them good.
2) Came back from Turkey. Kissed my boyfriend a lot, because I had missed him.
3) My sweet boyfriend had a talk with my dad, then went out and bought me this really fancy ring I wanted...
4) Had a party celebrating something that should happen sometime soon, but still hasnt' yet.
5) Packed and cleaned a lot.
6) Moved to Pensacola, FL.

Since we got here, I've been

1) Applying to places, trying desperately to find a job.
2) Finding plays and theatre companies to audition for.
3) Waiting anxiously to be asked a certain question.

(Reason # 2 why I don't blog- there's never really anything to update about, because my life isn't very interesting)

More later... maybe? haha

Key Largo Update #1

Heaven, Frank Sparta (pet stuffed jackalope) and I with giant plastic jackalope at Pedro's. Note: very short hair.

So I'm in Key Largo with my bff Heaven, and it's pretty fun so far. Things that have happened:

1) Drove from NC to Jacksonville, FL. We stopped by South of the Border to say hello to Pedro. Fun commenced. Took pictures with lots of giant plastic animals.
2) Stayed at Heaven's aunt's house in St. John's. By "house" I actually mean "mansion." It was literally the biggest house I've ever been in.
3) Walked around million-dollar neighborhood and took pictures. Creeped out the owners of said million-dollar homes. I would be creeped out if I saw random girls taking pictures of my giant house, too.
4) Drove from St. John's to Key Largo.
5) Went snorkeling for a little today! The water is a bit chillier than normal-- a frigid 70 degrees.
6) Bought souvenirs for certain little girls for whom I will need an address and approval... Someone should call me ;)

Blogtastic.

I am actually a terrible blogger, as you can probably tell by now. I don't have too much to update as there is absolutely nothing new going on in my life. Keep you posted on my nothingness?

(this post sounds way more depressed than I mean for it to.)

This experiment is getting Fishy.

My dear sweet boyfran is a bio major at Campbell University. He's taking a class this semester in which he has to teach a lab to his entire class. The lab he chose involves taking goldfish, immobilizing them in a wet cotton-filled cradle and putting different chemicals on them to see how their circulation reacts as viewed by a high-powered microscope.

I feel bad for the critters. I mean, I understand full well that they get scared for a couple seconds, then forget why they're scared, then get scared again, lather, rinse, repeat, because they have the memory of... Well, of goldfish.
I made the keen observation that all of the fish are swimming in a lopsided manner around the tank, and, if possible, look more bewildered than usual. When I told my boss that he may be getting defective fish (he's going to adopt them into his pond when they're done being experimented upon), he told me that that's just how goldfish behave in their off season.

...

I don't buy it. I'm secretly hoping that the fish will make a Finding Nemo-esque escape tonight into the drain by their tank. Follow the drain to freedom, my fishy friends. The open ocean awaits. Or the Cape Fear river, however far you get before you forget where you're going.

Numero Uno

To whom it may concern:

I greatly enjoy reading yoderyears, and I thought it would be neat to chronicle my life in the same way. I don't do well with diaries, mostly because writing stuff by hand is tedious but also because it's so 1800's. I'm also very erratic when it comes to composing my thoughts, and with the time it takes me to write them out, I've already lost track of what I was thinking. That would be fail.

So I'll start this blog out with a Comedy/ Tragedy list. Here goes.

Comedic (or just good) Events

I was given a cello yesterday by my high school orchestra teacher. This is the first time in my ten years+ playing career that I've ever owned the instrument.
I had a great week at work. Money was great, customers were great, the people I work with are great.
I had lunch with a friend I haven't seen in a while today. It was good.
I found out that a co-worker will cover my shift for spring break so I can go to Key Largo with my bff Heaven to visit her dad's side of the family. Super, ridiculously excited for this. It is going to be epic.
I love my boyfriend and my dog. So life in general has been good.

Tragic (or... bad) Events

I had a filling fall out of one of my back teeth, and I'm off of my parents health insurance as of January. Bad timing on the filling's part.
That's actually about it. I can't really think of any more. In all actuality, the good stuff has far outweighed the bad this week.

Signing off for now.

Oh, and in case you were wondering-- Quail Monsters? It's the name of the imaginary band that Archer and I are one day going to be a part of. He's going to play bass and/or guitar and/or rock harmonica and/or scream. I'm going to sing and/or play rock recorder and/or interpretive dance. We will be holding auditions for the role of "drummer and/or person to provide culinary talents" within the next ten years. That is, if we can't train our border collie Sadie to do so. Prospects aren't good.
